Xorah Cole
Co-Director Academic Programming
Hi there!
My name is Xorah Michelle Cole. (pronounced zora - like the poet!) I am an artist, educator, and student.
I hold an AAS in Early Childhood Education, a BA in Bible in theology with a minor in Biblical Languages, and I'm a year into my Master of Theological Studies degree. My dream job is to be a teaching librarian at the university level.
My career in education has ranged from classrooms to after-school programs to summer camps. I pride myself in working with students of all ages from preschool to college. In all my work, I am guided by my educational philosophy. My goal is to help students grasp fundamental concepts they can build upon in the future. I believe every child has the right to an equitable education that allows students to develop socially, morally, and intellectually through interactive lessons that present essential concepts.
As a lifelong learner, I am enamored with the study of ancient cultures, languages, and history. As a student of Biblical Studies, I focus on the cultures related to the Biblical text. My current research interests include the role of narrative in community formation, scribal action in formulating the Biblical text and interdisciplinary (especially with literary, artistic and disability theologies) readings of the Hebrew Bible.
When I'm not teaching or reading, you can find me reorganizing my craft supplies, crocheting granny squares for a blanket (that I really do plan to finish!), painting or reading!
