12th Grade
History, Civics & Justice: Senior Capstone – The People’s History
Our Commitment to the Full Story
At The Mosaic Cooperative, we believe that history is not a singular story, but a vibrant and complex tapestry of human experience. We are deeply committed to telling the full story of our past—examining history through the multi-focal lenses of all involved, rather than a narrow, singular narrative. We believe that providing students with an honest look at many perspectives is the only way to cultivate true critical reasoning and empathy.
In the Year of Agency & Synthesis, 12th-grade scholars transition from students of history to active historians. This fully student-led capstone is the ultimate culmination of their academic journey. Abandoning the traditional survey course, scholars are empowered to select a specific historical era, movement, or unsung figure for an intensive deep dive. By designing and executing a comprehensive final project of their choosing, students prove their mastery of independent scholarship and their commitment to elevating the marginalized, vibrant stories that make up our rich history.
